During April and May, The I.C.A.R.E. Organization in Junction City recognized 334 "most improved readers" across each grade level at 12 elementary schools in USD 475, including Lutheran Preschool and St. Xavier, during their 2025-26 year-end ceremonies.

The I.C.A.R.E. Initiative promotes intergenerational reading to provide significant benefits for children, older adults, and the community. The organization also extended this initiative to award books to students with disabilities and those in need of books for their home libraries.
