More than 50 pieces of art are on display during the USD 475 Art Show at the C.L. Hoover Opera House. The show, that began Friday evening, continues Saturday from 1-4 p.m.

Art teacher David Goheen said art from Junction City High and Middle Schools and from all the elementary schools in the district is included in the show. "It's a good show. We haven't had one for two years because of COVID so it's kind of nice to be back doing this again."

There was a good public turnout for the show on Friday, which is hosted by the Geary Community Schools Foundation. Executive Director Margie Pinaire explained that they collect the proceeds from a silent auction held in conjunction with the art show. "Those proceeds go to a scholarship for an art student at Junction City High School.

Pinaire enjoys the art work done by the students. "I always like kid's art. There's some sunflowers, I love those. There's a bird that maybe could be a Blue Jay. I'm not sure but I like it, some colorful dogs, there's a heart I like.
