The Junction City Blue Jay football game with Highland Park that was scheduled Thursday night in Topeka has been canceled due to COVID-19 issues experienced by Highland Park. The contest will not be rescheduled. The information was confirmed by JCHS Athletic Director Matt Westerhaus.
Junction City had already clinched a share of the Centennial League championship and with a win over Highland Park could have claimed the title outright. Westerhaus noted that the league title will be determined by winning percentage. "So, we will be guaranteed a league championship."
Junction City will finish the regular season with a 6-1 record and the Blue Jays went undefeated, 6-0, against Centennial League opponents.
Next up for the Blue Jays will be postseason play, which is scheduled to begin on Friday Oct. 30th.
