JC/GC Economic Development Council Applauds KDOT’s Commitment to Major Investments in Geary County

JUNCTION CITY, KS – The Junction City/Geary County Economic Development Council (JC/GC EDC) proudly supports the Kansas Department of Transportation’s (KDOT) decision to move forward with the replacement of the Taylor Road Bridge. This significant investment not only addresses current traffic and safety needs but also incorporates a design that allows for a future interchange, demonstrating KDOT’s commitment to long-term infrastructure planning.

“KDOT’s continued investment in Geary County is nothing short of transformational,” said Mickey Fornaro-Dean, Director of Operations of JC/GC EDC. “From capacity enhancements to interchange improvements, these projects are strengthening our transportation network and fueling economic growth for years to come.”

The Taylor Road Bridge is just one of several major infrastructure projects KDOT has undertaken in Geary County in recent years. Other key investments include:

· K-177 capacity enhancements

· McDowell Creek (Exit #307) overpass replacement and reconstruction

· K-18/I-70 (Exit #303) interchange improvement

· J Hill Road (Exit #299) overpass replacement and reconstruction

· I-70 road bed replacement and reconstruction across Grandview Plaza and Junction City

· US-77 capacity enhancements

· Taylor Road overpass replacement and interchange preparation

These projects represent a massive financial commitment from KDOT over the past four to five years, ensuring Geary County remains a hub for safe, efficient transportation and continued economic expansion.
