Emma Jean Andres, 84, of rural Alta Vista passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, June 24, 2020. She was surrounded by family. She was born August 10, 1935 in White City, Kansas to H. Leland and Clara (Pagel) Barber. She married Neil Andres on November 23, 1952.
Jean and Neil worked together for 35 years operating the Andres Insurance Agency which served the Alta Vista, Eskridge, White City and Manhattan communities. Jean loved taking care of their customers serving the community and “doing the books”.
Jean was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was active in the Alta Vista Chamber of Commerce and served as Secretary/Treasurer for many years. Her passion for the community was most felt in her tireless efforts to lead and support the annual Old Settler’s Day Celebration. She was thrilled when she was honored as Grand Marshall of the parade at Old Settler’s Day last year. She also was secretary treasurer for family reunions and kept excellent records of family happenings.
Jean loved her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a blessing to many and will be missed my all.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Neil, her parents, daughter Beverly Andres, granddaughters Brandy and Mitzi Bullock and brother Lee Barber.
Jean is survived by daughters Barbara Albin Overland Park, Becky (Clay) Glessner Alta Vista, son Bryan (Paula) Andres Kansas City, MO; Grand Children Faith (Russel)Dempsey, Kade Albin, Terry (Shandi) Andres, Lyle Vaughn, Brandi (Perrell) Stanley, Jacob Glessner, Stacie (Derek) Buss, Emma Andres, Kylie Andres, Sam Andres; Great grandchildren Madison, Donovan and Alana Dempsey, Molly, Finn and Hazel Roach, Phoenix Vaughn, Castyn and Cooper Andres, Cory Crowl, Noah Glessner, Lanndon Stanley, Clinton Glessner, Dallas, Abigayle and Danyal Buss.
Funeral Services will be held at 10am, June 29th at Alta Vista Cemetery.
