First baby of the new year born at Geary Community Hospital

Junction City, KS – Kenyon & Manon (Pecher) Base of Manhattan, Kan. welcomed their baby boy, Layke Base, who was born January 1, 2021 at 3:57 pm, at the Martha K. Hoover Women's Health Center at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City, Kan. Layke was the first baby born at GCH in the 2021 year.

Layke weighed 8 pounds, 2.2 ounces and was 20 inches long. He joins his siblings Liam (7), Shyloh (4), Mikaela (3) and Lochlan (17 months), at home.

The maternal grandparents are Laurent & Gaelle Pecher of Belgium. The paternal grandparents are Rodney & Kathie Base of Holcomb, KS.

The Base family received a newborn care package including diapers, wipes, baby bath soaps, swaddles, an infant tub, a GCH “Geary Bear” stuffed animal and a $200 Wal-Mart gift card.
