JUNCTION CITY, Kan. – The Geary USD 475 Board of Education approved the resignation of Dr. Regionald Eggleston, USD 475 Superintendent of Schools, on Thursday night.
“I am truly honored and humbled to have been the Superintendent of Schools in USD 475. As I prepare to step away from my current role, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity I have had to serve the students, staff and families of USD 475. I am especially thankful to God, my wife, my staff and everyone across this district and Fort Riley who has worked alongside me to make a positive difference in the lives of our students. This chapter has been incredibly meaningful, and I will always be proud of the work we have accomplished together."
Eggleston, who will remain in his current role as superintendent until June 30, 2027, has served as the Superintendent of Schools in USD 475 every year since 2019. During his tenure, Dr. Eggleston has overseen transformative initiatives that address the academic, social and emotional needs of all USD 475 students. His strategic vision included robust financial planning and community partnerships, ensuring sustainable success and equity for over 7,000 students and 1,300 employees.
During the 2025-26 school year, Eggleston was not only named the Kansas Superintendent of the Year by the Kansas School Superintendents Association but also received the Dan and Cheryl Yunk Award for Excellence in Educational Administration from the Kansas State University College of Education. With his selection as Kansas Superintendent of the Year, Eggleston became only the third USD 475 superintendent in the history of the district to receive the prestigious honor, joining legendary district leaders, Mary Devin and Max Heim.
The USD 475 Board of Education is developing a plan to search for the district’s next superintendent.
