Geary County Sheriff Eric Coffman says it appears his department will have to provide some school resource officer support at Junction City High School with at least one person. Coffman noted that there have been issues with coverage capabilities with the city unable to get them. Cofffman said the high school recently reached out to the Sheriff's Office.
Details are still being worked out but April 1 is a probable start date for the Sheriff's Department to provide the service and it would continue through the end of the school year. The Department would be reimbursed for the service.
The JCPD also provides SRO support.
