Potential roundabout project draws criticism

Samantha Noriega of Junction City doesn't feel a roundabout is needed at Eisenhower Drive and McFarland Road. She feels the City should use its money for projects such as improving Calhoun from 6th Street to Westwood. She did not support accepting a grant.

Grant Avenue was also mentioned as a location where local funds are needed. "That money can o to Grant Avenue. Now it's a main thoroughfare. It's in crisis for the amount of traffic it's traveled, " said Noriega.

During discussion Tuesday night Commissioner Richard Pinaire responded by saying he agreed, a roundabout is not needed and the City needs to use money targeted for the roundabout elsewhere on roads.

For Grant Avenue, Pinaire noted that local officials are hoping to get some assistance from a federal grant for communities next to a federal reservation. A lot of people locally are working on that effort.

The conversation occurred during the city commission meeting.
