Summer Downtown kicks off this Thursday, June 5th from 4–7 PM. Visitors can enjoy the Geary Community Farmers Market, sidewalk sales, and exciting pop-up activities throughout downtown. Participating businesses and organizations include:
-CASA of the 8th Judicial District with bubbles and chalk for kids
-Live music outside Highwind Brewing Co.
-The Spot Karaoke offering tours of their karaoke suites
-D’z Lounge with summer sips and samplings for all ages
-Cornhole at Tom’s Menswear …and more across the downtown district!
On Saturday, June 7th, start the morning at the Main Street Market from 9 AM to 1 PM, then continue the day with two major events:
● Arts on 7th from 3–7 PM on the 100 block of W 7th Street, featuring local vendors, artists, food, and live creativity.
● Mud Bog Madness, hosted by Freedom Fest, a JC Main Street partner. Begins at 11 AM at 1039 Grant Ave—a down-and-dirty good time for all ages.
-Sundays at 3 PM, enjoy free public concerts by the JC Community Band at the C.L. Hoover Opera House.
Summer programs are also launching for youth and families:
GEM Studios Summer Art Camp offers themed weekly art sessions for kids starting June 9. Themes include All About Me, Bugs & Animals, Ocean Week, and more.
-Activated Arts is hosting six dance courses and four theater programs ranging from tap to clowning and creative drama. Click here for more info.

-Movies in the Park hosted by JCPD begins June 20th with Moana 2 showing at 8:45 PM in Heritage Park

-Flags of Geary County: “Proudly United, Community Ignited” Junction City Main Street invites you to participate in their Flag Project ultimately benefiting multiple local area organizations. For a nominal contribution, JC Main Street will oversee placing and removing a leased 3 ft X 5 ft U.S. flag on a 10 ft pole in the lawn in front of your business and/or home 5 times a year for a total of 6 holidays. Flags will not be deployed if it is raining on the holiday in question. GET YOURS NOW FOR FLAG DAY! FLAGS WILL STAY UP FROM FLAG DAY THROUGH 4TH OF JULY!
