Peggy Ellwn Gravette

Peggy Ellen Gravette, age 81, passed on to her eternal resting place on Saturday, July 26, 2025 in the comfort of her two daughters. She was born December 12, 1943 in Sunflower, Kansas the daughter of Hugh and Dorothy Grinstead. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1961.

On November 10, 1968 she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Gravette. Peggy and Bill made their home in Abilene, Kansas in the early 70’s. The couple had two children, Meg in 1974 and Beth in 1976. Peggy stayed at home to raise her two girls until school age then returned to her career as a Paralegal secretary. Peggy enjoyed antiquing with her sisters, plants, flowers and gardening. Most of all she loved being a devoted mom to her two girls. She always had a deep love for her family and extended family including her dog Duke. Nephews and nieces would often visit Peggy’s home as she was someone who you could talk to endlessly without judgment. She will be remembered for her kindness, selflessness and unwavering love for her family and others. In coping with her husband’s death Peggy had the true blessing to be a “nanny” for her nieces first born child Gracee that brought many smiles and joy to her life.

Peggy is survived by her two daughters; Meg Gravette and Beth Gravette-Milbers and husband Manny. Grandchildren, Hunter William Holmgren and Brason Kellan Novak. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 30 years Bill Gravette, siblings Debbie Beene, Nancee Grinstead, Mark Grinstead, Kay Ford and a nephew, Tod Ford. Funeral Services for Peggy will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Abilene City Cemetery. Family will receive friends at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday until service time.

Family suggests memorials be given to the Alzheimer’s Association. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW Third St., Abilene, Kansas 67410.
