Junction City Parks and Recreation has ongoing multiple efforts. They include work with Quality Play for All on upgrades to Fifth Street Park including a fitness court, picnic shelter and two drinking fountains that will be completed in the May - June time frame.
According to Parks and Recreation Director Josh Gray, indoor soccer was a success at Spin City where more than 100 children participated.
There are plans for a flag football league running from March 19th to May 4th for youth ages 5-11. This will be 5 on 5 following NFL flag football rules. Sign up at junctioncity-ks.gov.
There will be a Spring Break Skate at Spin City, 915 South Washington, on March 11th, 13th and 15th. Admission will be $7.
Summer lifeguards are needed for the Municipal Swimming Pool. They must be ages 15 and up. For applicants there will be a $20 pre-test fee and classes will be held at the YMCA. Clerks are also needed to help run the concession stand and the basket room. Those applicants must be 14 and up. Apply at junctioncity-ks.gov.
