Geary County ranked third among Kansas counties that received the largest tax refunds in the state. That's according to a study done by SmartAsset, which using the most recent IRS data, divided the total amount of money refunded to residents in each county by the total number of refunds given out in each county.
Geary County ranked third with 15,140 residents receiving refunds, with the average tax amount refunded totaling $3,018.
The same study showed that 2,070 taxpayers owed taxes, with the average tax amount owed totaling $2,384.
