Manhattan— Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire in an apartment in Manhattan.
Just before 4:30 a.m. Thursday, the Manhattan Fire Department was dispatched to 2215 College Avenue building Q for a report of a structure fire, according to Assistant Chief Sam Dameron.
Upon arrival, crews found a three-story apartment building with smoke coming from the second floor.
The fire was controlled by the sprinkler system and crews finished the extinguishment. No one was home in the apartment at the time of the fire however, one cat was found deceased due to smoke inhalation.
Loss is estimated at $1,000 to contents and $1,000 to the structure. The owner is listed as Vesper Manhattan, KS LLC with an owner address of 595 Madison Avenue #FL 37 New York, NY 10022-1641.
