GEARY COUNTY - On Thursday, February 16, Geary County Sheriff's Deputies were working a crash scene at mile marker 310 on eastbound Interstate 70, at 11:18 a.m. when a white SUV almost struck a patrol unit.

The Deputy was inside the vehicle at the time of the incident, and pulled out behind the vehicle, attempting to conduct a traffic stop for failure to move over for an emergency vehicle.
The vehicle initially slowed down, but quickly returned to the speed limit, failing to stop and/or yield for an emergency vehicle.
Wabaunsee County Sheriff's Deputies and Kansas Highway Patrol troopers assisted in stopping the vehicle at mile marker 324 on eastbound Interstate 70.
Twenty-seven-year old, Destynee L. Thomas, of Topeka, was taken into custody and charged with Fleeing and Eluding and Failure to Move over for Emergency Vehicles.
