The Geary County Historical Society hosted a “Coca Cola Day” History Experience on Saturday, May 9th at the museum building. This program, celebrating the 140th anniversary of Coca Cola, welcomed close to 100 visitors to the museum where they learned about the history of the Coca Cola company, its global impact, and its unique connection to Junction City.
The event featured activities, like a blind soda taste-test challenge and crafts like designing your own soda can. A timeline guessing game shared the history of the Junction City Bottling Company and a 1950’s traveling trunk showcased historic objects from a bygone era. Guests were invited to try a Coke float or a Roy Rogers drink from the Soda Counter while they learned and shared their own Coca Cola connections with each other.
United Way of Junction City – Geary County sponsor the museums History Experience programs, allowing them to be free for the community.
