The Military Affairs Council breakfast in Junction City Thursday was the site for donations to Operation Santa Claus, the program at Fort Riley that assists families who may be facing financial difficulties during the holiday season by providing new toys or gift cards for children from birth to age 18 at no cost to the Soldiers.
The Society of the 1st Infantry Division and the Military Affairs Council combined to donate toys valued at more than $250 . Plus $150 in cash was donated from the proceeds from the monthly barn quilt undertaken by Phyllis Fitzgerald.
The official kickoff for Operation Santa Claus for this holiday season is scheduled Nov. 2 at 4:30 p.m. at Building 5306 on Post.
