Recruiting is down for the U.S. Army but the Executive Director for the Governor's Military Council Perry Wiggins said Thursday that the answer is not redirecting the force structure.
Wiggins said recruiting is a nation's mission. "So I think it's incumbent on everybody in our nation and in our communities to reach out to those young individuals that have a service kind of gene in them and say I think you're perfect for serving in our military."
Wiggins noted that strengthening recruitment is not necessarily done through dollars. In the past some incidents have eroded parents confidence on serving in the armed forces and some are not sure.
The retired Lt. Gen. commented to a Military Affairs Council breakfast in Geary County that as a nation we need to support the armed forces in recruitment, and old adversaries are raising their faces again. They want to destroy our way of life and our freedoms and liberties are challenged.
