JC Breakfast Club
Ellie Dillon, C.L. Hoover Opera House Director, was the guest speaker for the JC Breakfast Optimist Club meeting on Wednesday. Ellie recently retired from having worked in USD 475 Geary County Schools for 37 years and was selected to be the leader at the Opera House in Junction City. She is a lifelong resident of Junction City, has served as a Dance Coach at Junction City High School; worked with the Junction City Little Theater for 12-15 years having been the President for 6 years and directed shows.
She outlined the season for club members with shows beginning in October through March. Some of those include a comedian, a dinosaur exhibition, a country band, the First ID Band from Fort Riley, a soft rock band and Motown sounds. In addition, the Junction City Little Theater will produce four plays and there will be performances of jazz and other forms of music presented in the lobby area during the year.
The Theater Arts Academy for youth will begin their work in September to prepare a show in the fall and spring. For more information on the Academy or any of the shows call the C.L. Hoover Opera House at 785-238-3906.
The JC Breakfast Optimist Club will have a fundraiser at JC’s BBQ & Grill on Monday, August 18 from 11:00 AM until close. Ten percent of the cost of purchases will be given back to the Optimists to support 16 Geary County youth organizations and 3 scholarships.
