Work is progressing on development of a History Trail

Military Affairs Council Director Craig Bender has announced that there are 10 designated sites for an African American History Trail planned in Geary County, ranging from the Geary County Historical Museum to Rathert Field. "We're gaining momentum as far as people that want to be a part of the program. " People have donated funds. "So right now we're trying to put together what the signs are going to look like so that they can build the information is going to go on those at each location. "

Some of community members undertaking the work on the trail include Jim Sands, Margy Stewart, Craig Bender, Melanie Laster and Heather Hagedorn. There are other volunteers providing assistance as well. 

The Buffalo Soldier Memorial, former Buffalo Soldier housing and former USO are some of the other locations on the trail.
