Fort Riley’s Military Retiree Appreciation Day set for October 4

Fort Riley and the 1st Infantry Division invite all military retirees to attend the annual Retiree Appreciation Day Oct. 4 at Riley’s Community Center, 446 Seitz Avenue, Fort Riley. All military retirees, their spouses, and widows or widowers are welcome. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m., and the program will begin at 9:00.  

The Fort Riley garrison commander and the Irwin Army Community Hospital commander will open the event. Throughout the day retirees will receive the latest information on TRICARE, Medicare, hospital services and other health care issues, veterans’ affairs, legislative issues, casualty affairs, long term care insurance, and many other topics of interest to military retirees. Multiple veteran service organizations will be on hand to provide information to attendees. Retirees will also have the opportunity to update their identification cards.  

The public health team from Irwin Army Community Hospital plans to provide vaccinations from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for influenza, Tdap, shingles, and pneumonia. COVID vaccine will be available for those 65 years of age and older.
