Driver hospitalized after semi rollover south of Junction City

GEARY COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just before 5:30a.m. Thursday in Geary County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2024 Freightliner semi driven by William Leo Taylor, 43, Plano, Texas, was northbound on U.S. 77 four miles south of Junction City.

The vehicle entered east ditch. The driver attempted to bring it back on the roadway and it overturned blocking both lanes of the highway.

EMS transported Taylor to Stomont Vail in Junction City. He was properly restrained, according to the KHP.

Update from Geary County Emergency Management:

We have been able to open an additional alternative route You can still use J Hill Rd. You can also travel US 77 Hwy. South to W. Lyons Creek Rd. To K157 Hwy back to US 77 Hwy. We are being advised by wrecker crews the road will be closed until sometime between 11:00 a.m. and noon.

GEARY COUNTY —First responders are on the scene of a semi rollover on Highway 77 south of Interstate 70 in Geary County, according to a social media report from the Kansas Highway Patrol. The accident occurred just before 5:30a.m.

Roadway is blocked and will be for several more hours. There are no report of injuries.
