National Recognition for Local Interdiction Efforts

The Geary County Sheriff's Department announced that recently in Oklahoma City, Undersheriff Justin Stopper and Criminal Interdiction Deputy Tommy Umeck were honored at the National Interdiction Conference for their outstanding work in drug interdiction.

Deputy Umeck received two national awards for the largest seizures of their kind — 66 gallons of PCP and 200 pounds of edibles along with 169 pounds of marijuana, both resulting from traffic stops.

Undersheriff Stopper was recognized nationally for the largest reported seizure of 260 pounds of cocaine and 3,280 pounds of marijuana, which also earned recognition as "Seizure of the Month" for June 2025.

While these individual accomplishments are impressive, they would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of the entire Criminal Interdiction Team, made up of members of the Geary County Sheriff's Office and Junction City Police Department.
