JUNCTION CITY, Kan. - Geary County Schools USD 475 is proud to announce that it had one middle school student earn top honors in the 2024-25 Elks Lodge Essay Contest.
Anna Neterer of Fort Riley Middle School USD 475 won the sixth grade Northeast District Division as she wrote about what Patriotism meant to her. Neterer also claimed second-place accolades with her essay at the Kansas state level, which is the highest honor a student can receive by the Elks. By placing in the top two, Neterer will not only be recognized at her school, but also receive a cash award.
Other highlights in the contest included Spring Valley Elementary USD 475 fifth grade students Ambria Fulmore and Claire Briemman placing second and third overall, respectively, in the fifth-grade division with their essays about Patriotism.
