Karin Gertrude (Powierza) Shipley, 82, of Manhattan, passed away Tuesday, March 1st, at Homestead of Olathe Assisted Living, Olathe. She worked at FootLocker in Junction City and was a homemaker. Karin was born in Danzig, Germany, on January 20, 1940, the daughter of the late Dorthea and Gerhard Paul Kreft. She was the widow of Richard​J. Powierza and Donald L. Shipley. She was a graduate of Manhattan Technical College in Graphic Arts. Karin is survived by her son, Gerhard Shipley of Lawrence; two sisters, Sigrid Fetter and Marianne Kreft, both of Bad Kreuznach, Germany. Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m.&nbsp; on March 18th, 2022 at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Manhattan.&nbsp;&nbsp;
