Posted Feb 26, 2022 11:00 AM

Opponents of a proposed beef harvesting plant on the southwest edge of Junction City just north of I-70 are hosting a public meeting at 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the C.L. Hoover Opera House. They will focus on what the plant would mean for Junction City.

The plant would create jobs but they could come at a cost  to the community. Opponents point to their concerns ranging from increased crime to a strain on hospitals, schools and social services. They believe that there would be increased traffic and accidents, increases in certain diseases and COVID, worker injuries, high turnover, domestic violence and live kill smell

There has been an indication that pros and cons of the issue will be discussed at the meeting.
