JUNCTION CITY, Kan. – Geary County USD 475 announced that Washington Elementary’s Jennifer Langvardt was named a Modern Woodmen of America Hometown Hero on Thursday afternoon.
“I’m incredibly honored and truly humbled to be chosen, especially knowing how much this organization does for our Washington Elementary community,” said Langvardt. “This has been my home for 32 years, and the school means so much to so many people. It makes me deeply proud to have played a part in that legacy.”
Langvardt, an instructional coach who will retire at the end of the 2025-26 school year after 32 years in the district, was honored due to her passion and commitment to making a difference in Washington Elementary students lives every single day.The Modern Woodmen Hometown Hero program, which is run by Modern Woodmen of America, recognizes individuals for outstanding volunteer service to their local communities. Recipients are chosen by local chapters to honor their dedication. By receiving the Hometown Hero honor, Modern Woodmen will make a donation to the charity of the Langvardt's choice.
