The Junction City Commission has approved a letter of understanding between the Fire Department and Firefighters Association Local 3309. The three year agreement runs until Dec. 17, 2028.&nbsp;

The deal includes annual salary increases of 10, 6 and 5 percent for the three years. The move&nbsp; is intended to help bring their salaries up closer to market level. The vote was 4- 1 with Commissioner Richard Pinaire voting no. His concern involved the amount planned for next year for firefighters versus other staff.

Commissioner Ronna Larson noted that the City wants quality employees and wants them to stay here.
