The Hugh O'Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Camp was founded in 1958 by Actor Hugh O'Brian. HOBY aims to inspire high school students to recognize their leadership potential and make a positive impact in their communities. The organization emphasizes teaching students how to think, not what to think, fostering awareness, confidence, connection and purpose among participants.

The JC Breakfast Optimist Club annually donates a scholarship for a Junction City High School Sophomore to attend the camp during the summer at Kansas State University.

JCHS Sophomore, Caden McCallum, was selected to attend the camp at Kansas State University. He is in the Science, Engineering and Health Academy and plans to study to be an Ag Engineer after completing high school
