City Commission news notes

The recent Bassmaster College College Series Classic Bracket fishing tournament at Milford Lake generated a lot of media coverage. According to Rick Dykstra there were 10 hours of coverage on Fox Sports One plus 19 hours of live stream at Bassmaster.com. Sports Destination Management was a publication that also provided coverage. Rick Dykstra provided the information to the Junction City Commission this week.

In other news from the commission meeting:

--Police Chief John Lamb reminded the public of the Touch A Truck event on Saturday. It will run from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday at 435 East Chestnut Street.

--More than 300 people attended the recent JCPD sponsored block party.

--$8,700 was the fundraising total from the Police Department's Shop with a Cop golf tournament. The funds will support the law enforcement effort to help needy children at Christmas time. The $8,700 total was up from $6,300 a year ago.

--There will be new income based housing structures built in the future at 14th and Jackson.

--Junction City firefighters will be at local schools this month providing fire prevention education to children. This is Fire Prevention Month.

--And six more picnic tables have been made for Rathert Field.
