United Way of Junction City-Geary County has announced that Pawnee Mental Health as a $1,500 funded partner for 2024. This support will directly fund the continuation and enhancement of the S.T.A.R.S. (Strength, Teamwork, Attitude, Relationships, Self-Esteem) Camp, a vital summer program exclusively designed for children aged 5-17 with serious emotional disturbances (SED) in our Youth Community Services.
Now in its 22nd year, S.T.A.R.S. Camp, hosted by Pawnee Mental Health, offers a lifeline to children with SED by providing them with a supportive summer experience. For many of these children, the camp represents their sole opportunity to engage in supportive and enjoyable summer activities, fostering essential skills such as resilience, teamwork, and self-esteem.
The United Way of Junction City-Geary County grant will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the S.T.A.R.S. Camp remains accessible to all eligible children, regardless of financial constraints.
