Desert Storm remembered at Fort Riley

FORT RILEY, Kan. (WIBW) - Thirty years ago, American troops were deployed as part of Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield.

In honor of the 30th anniversary, Major General D. A. Sims and Retired Lieutenant General Thomas Rhame placed a wreath in Victory Park on Thursday.

In February of 1991, Coalition Forces undertook a two-pronged assault into Kuwait and Iraq while lead by the 1st Infantry Division, which was under the command of then Major General Thomas Rhame

Twenty-seven 1st Infantry Division soldiers lost their lives during Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield and were honored with tolling of the Victory Bell.
