RCPD: DUI suspect bit two officers during arrest after crash

RILEY COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Riley County woman on multiple allegations following a crash and interaction with police.

Just after 4:30p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the report of a crash near the intersection of West Randolph and N. 1st Streets in Randolph, according to the Riley County Police Department activity report.

First responders found an unoccupied Dodge Grand Caravan still running that had hit a power pole. A short time later, officers identified the driver as Krystle Zimmer, 33, of St. George who was found in the 100 block of Randolph St. in Randolph.

Officers made contact with her and determined she was allegedly intoxicated. Zimmer ran away from officers as they spoke with her, she was quickly detained. While officers were placing her in handcuffs, she resisted, bit two officers, and threatened them.

Zimmer was arrested on requested charges of driving under the influence, and two counts each of battery on LEO, criminal threat on LEO, and interference with LEO.

Zimmer remains confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $20,000.
