Geary USD 475 Board of Education members have voted 7-0 on a resolution declaring their intention to enter into a lease purchase agreement with Piper Sandler Companies for a new early childhood center. At this point the cost estimate is $35 million dollars.
Cash received by the school district from federal impact aid could be used to help reduce the cost of the lease over time down into the neighborhood of $22.5 million.
In the resolution that they were considering the Board talked about locating the early childhood center on district owned property on Eisenhower, but they eventually decided to leave out a specific location pending further discussion.
