---

The National Weather Service has issued both fire weather and high wind watches from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday.

Very high to extreme fire weather conditions due to strong winds and low relative humidity are possible Friday afternoon and early evening. The area of greatest concern is across central and east-central Kansas, but the entire area has some risk for both strong wind and dangerous fire conditions.

Don’t burn outdoors, discard cigarettes properly, and avoid activities that could spark a fire. Driving may be difficult in strong winds. Loose and lightweight objects may be blown around.
