Election Security has been a priority for the Secretary of State’s Office in Topeka. With that, they have implemented some new state regulations that require additional security protocols.

Geary County Clerk Courtney Gilbert said that office has a computer that is designated for Election only. It is not connected to any network.
Gilbert said that they hire on-site support from ES&S (which is the election software company) They program all elections in Geary County. County staff then proofs the election and all sample ballots to ensure accuracy. Attached to this election computer, is our ballot printer. The new state regulation requires that this computer and ballot printer specifically be under camera surveillance and behind a secured entrance.

The Clerk's Office has introduced the new Election Viewing Room in Geary County Viewers can watch the election be programmed, ballots printed and on Election Night watch as results are tabulated.
