Bond reduction is approved for weekend homicide suspect

UPDATE:

Bond has been reduced for Joshua Sturgis, 34, Junction City, from $1,000,000 down to $750,000 despite an objection by the state.

Sturgis was arrested and charged in a Geary County District court warrant with Second Degree Murder and  Aggravated Assault stemming from the Sunday morning shooting death of Justin Rose, 38, Junction City in the 900 block of North Washington.

During a first appearance in District Court on Wednesday, bond was reduced for Sturgis and a status check was scheduled for Oct. 13

Geary County Sheriff's authorities have reported that Deputies arrested Joshua J. Sturgis, Junction City, at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at the County Detention Center. Sturgis was arrested on a Geary County District Court warrant charging him with 2nd Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault. 

The allegations stem from the shooting death of Justin Rose, 38, Junction City, last Sunday morning in the 900 block of North Washington.

Following an extradition hearing Sturgis was returned to Geary County from St. Charles, MO.
