
It will be scaled back from past years but there will still be a Sundown Salute celebration in Junction City. The big day is Saturday, July 3, when the 5K and 10K Freedom Run begins at 7 a.m.. That will be followed by the annual parade which begins at 10 a.m. at Junction City High School, travels down Eisenhower to 6th Street and then goes east to 6th and Adams. The parade will be broadcast by 107.9 FM / 1420 KJCK.
The Veterans Ceremony will begin at noon in front of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Heritage Park. There will be a car show from 3-5 p.m. on Caroline Ave. on the west side of the city. Tribute group performances will include Ridin' the Storm Out, a tribute to REO Speedwagon from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Bob Jovi, a tribute to Bon Jovi, from 8:30 to 10 p.m. in the parking lot of the Bird Dog Saloon adjacent to Caroline Ave.
There will be two carnival rides and a funnel cake trailer provided by Ottaway Amusements that will be set up this week on Jefferson Street downtown, between 6th and 7th Streets.
