UPDATE:
Junction City Fire Department has confirmed that the break in the 4-inch natural gas line main has been fixed.

At approximately 4:36 p.m. a 4-inch natural gas line main was broken at 16th and North Madison. At 7:30 p.m. the Junction City Police Department, Junction City Fire Department, Junction City Public Works, and Kansas Gas Service are on scene. Kansas Gas Service Crews estimate the repairs will take at a minimum 4 hours to complete. All residents within a half block radius from the leak have been evacuated and no one is allowed within 1 block of the leak until the line is restored. Public Work Crews have blocked off the roads surrounding the leak at the following locations:
• W. 16th St. and Pierce St.
• W. 16th St. and Patton Ave.
• N. Madison St. and W. 15th St.
• N. Madison St. and W. 17th St
Crews are asking that members of the public avoid the area until the line is repaired.

JCFD responded to Gas line main that had been struck at 16th and Madison St. around 3:36 p.m. Thursday. Dispatch advised that a 4-inch gas line was struck and that Kansas Gas was already on scene.
There was evacuation of the 1600 block of N. Madison, part of 1500 block of N. Madison, and 400 Block of W. 16th St. Current roads are barricaded at 15th and Madison, 17th and Madison along with 16th and Adams St. The Fire Department said stay clear of the scene. The estimated time of repairs will be 3 hours.
There were not any injuries reported.
