RILEY COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just before 10a.m. Thursday in Riley County.
According to the Riley County Police Department activity report, a 2019 Ford Expedition, driven by Robert Whelchel, 38, of Manhattan, struck a 2016 Toyota Camry, driven by David Smale, 67, of Westwood, Kan, near Fort Riley Blvd. and Pillsbury Drive.
Smale was transported to Via Christi Hospital for an evaluation. Whelchel was issued a citation for inattentive driving. The RCPD released no additional details.
