USD 475 bus driver taken to hospital following accident

UPDATE:

More information has been provided by the Geary County Sheriff's Department on the Friday accident involving a school bus and a tractor. 

Deputies responded to the 7400 block of Davis Creek for an injury accident. Justin Sayson, Junction City, was driving a school bus with four student passengers southbound when a 1994 John Deere 6400 tractor driven by Gus Gustafson entered the roadway. The school bus struck the front bucket of the tractor causing heavy front end damage to the bus. 

Sayson was extricated and transported to Geary Community Hospital for further evaluation. The student passengers were evaluated by EMS on scene and released with no injuries. Gustafson had no complaints of injury at the time and was released at the scene. 

The school bus was removed by TLC Wrecker Service.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -A Geary Co. Schools bus driver was taken to the hospital after a collision in Southeast Geary Co.

USD 475 told 13 NEWS that a tractor pulled in front of the bus. They say the driver was extracted from the vehicle and walked to a gurney after the accident. They were taken to the hospital for further evaluation. Four students were on board, all of whom were cleared by medical responders on scene.

The district could not confirm the exact location of the accident.
