K-State's Pena collects Big 12 Player of the Week honors

MANHATTAN — Roberto Pena of K-State baseball collected his second weekly honor on Monday as the senior was named the Big 12 Player of the Week following the league's announcement.

Pena is the first Wildcat to earn the league's weekly honors this season and the first since Dylan Phillips in April 2022.  

The Collegiate Baseball's National Player of the Week jumped to first on the Wildcats' season home run leaderboard after hitting four over the course of a week. Pena, a native of Caracas, Venezuela posted a .571 batting average with 14 RBI including two games with five.

Pena had a blistering 2.208 OPS, with a 1.571 slugging percentage and .636 on-base percentage. He now ties third in the league with eight homers while ranking third overall with 37 RBI.  

K-State will host Nebraska on Tuesday, April 3 at 6 p.m. inside Tointon Family Stadium.
