Grant Avenue clean up was the focus of efforts for local residents on Saturday in Junction City.
The coordinator Phyllis Fitzgerald said city and county leaders, other community members, Parks and Recreation staff, plus some Fort Riley Soldiers, and friends from Manhattan all participated in the effort.
The clean up focused on the north half of Grant Avenue. Some work remains but a large area was cleaned up.

The clean up followed the recent announcement from Fort Riley that they planned to keep the Trooper Gate entrance to the Post closed indefinitely once construction there is completed. Traffic instead will be routed onto and off post via Grant Avenue 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
