Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Jake LaTurner (KS-02) voted in favor of H.R. 3746, the Fiscal Responsibility Act—the Biden-McCarthy debt limit "Defaulting on our nation's debt would result in a global financial crisis—crippling 401ks and triggering disastrous implications for families across Kansas,"LaTurner said. "This debt limit package cuts wasteful federal spending by $2.1 trillion, unleashes the American economy, and blocks President Biden's demands for higher taxes—all while protecting seniors and veterans. I don't agree with everything in this bill, but in divided government, we can't let the perfect be the enemy of the good."

In addition to raising the debt limit to responsibly avoid default, the Fiscal Responsibility Act:

Reduces the deficit by $2.1 trillion.

Claws back unspent COVID slush funds.
Strengthens work requirements for welfare.
Reforms NEPA so America can build better than ever.
Blocks $5 trillion in new tax proposals from President Biden.
Eliminates $1.8 billion that would be wasted on hiring Biden's new army of IRS agents
