
Junction City won the girls Class 6A bowling state championship Thursday at North Rock Lanes in Wichita. In the boys competition the Blue Jays finished third.
Coach Brad Adams said the girls championship team included Olivia Oliver, Cassidy Eschliman, Brooke Swango, Allison Heidenreich, Jordan Hunt and Alexis Wareman. They turned in an overall score of 3,014. Adams noted with a chuckle, that when they found out Junction City had finished first the girls were so happy that they all cried. Olivia Oliver finished third in the individual competition with a 625 score, Jordan Hunt 10th at 562 and Cassidy Eschliman 19th with a 576.
For the Blue Jay boys, Adams noted the members of the team included Jordan Kell, Landon Ziegenhirt, Kael Smith, Carmine Mancinelli, Logan Lindsley and Torrey Lindsey.
Logan Lindsley finished 14th in the individual competition with a score of 618, Torrey Lindsey 16th with a 608 and Cael Smith 17th with a score of 604.
Adams commented that the play of the Junction City bowlers was consistent all day.
