Marjorie Ann Bergmann

Marjorie Ann Bergmann, 93, of Lillis, Kansas, died Monday, June 20, 2022. She was a life-long resident of the Lillis community.

Marjorie was born on September 20, 1928, in Grove, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Carrie (Slansky) Kalcik. She graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1946.

Marjorie married Edward L. Bergmann on September 24, 1949, at Assumption Catholic Church in Topeka, Kansas. Marjorie spent her adult life as a homemaker and farm wife, doing her part to make the family farm successful. After nearly sixty years of marriage, Edward preceded her in death on May 3, 2009.

Marjorie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Altar Society in Lillis. After the church was closed in 2009, she attended St. Columbkille’s Catholic Church in Blaine. She enjoyed making beautiful quilts, tending her garden, and planting flower beds. She was an excellent cook and was locally famous for her home-made Kolache. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and with her dogs Nell and Bentley.

Marjorie is survived by her children; Susan Heiser (Donnie), Kearney, Missouri, Robert Bergmann (Ruth), Lillis, William Bergmann (Deb), Lillis, Carolyn Seematter (Dean), Frankfort, Joseph Bergmann (Pam), Santa Clara, California, Annie Holle (Scott), Steamboat Springs, Colorado, David Bergmann (Kim), Lawrence, and Conrad Bergmann (Cheryl), Salina; twenty-four grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Marjorie was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sierra; and her siblings, Viola Hoover, Herbert Kalcik, and Raymond Kalcik.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lillis. Father Anthony Chendumalli will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. The family will greet friends, at the church in Lillis, on Monday June 27, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. A rosary prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

At Marjorie’s request, memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph’s Preservation, Inc., or St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, and may be sent in care of Campanella and Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego.
