JUNCTION CITY, Kan. — The Junction City High School basketball teams lost each of their games against Topeka Hayden Tuesday night.
The Junction City girls lead 21-11 at the start of the second quarter, but shooting woes would doom them in the second half, where they would fall to the Lady Wildcats 51-34.
Lucy Rivera lead the Lady Jays with 13 points, while Mellana Davis added 11. The JCHS girls are now 5-10 on the year.
The Lady Jays will head on the road to Topeka Seaman Wednesday night for their rescheduled game from Monday.
On the boys side, it was a similar story. The Blue Jays lead by as many as nine points in the first half, but could not replicate their offensive success in the second half.
Hayden would jump out to a double-digit lead and JC would play from behind, getting as close as six, but were never able to catch up. Hayden won by a score of 57-48.
Seth Clark scored 17, hitting five three-pointers in the game to lead the Blue Jays in scoring. Chris Dixon added 10 more, but no other Blue Jay would register double-digit scoring.
The Blue Jays are now 7-8 on the season, and will take on Topeka West on Friday night from the Capitol City.
