Geary County Historical Society release
The Geary County Historical Society and the McDowell Creek Community will host an open house at St. Joseph's Historic Church on Saturday, May 17th from 10am-1pm. Located at 13497 Lower McDowell Creek Road, the church has been relatively inaccessible over the past year as the bridge at Exit 307 over I-70 had been closed for construction, but work has still been ongoing throughout the road closures.
St. Joseph's is an ongoing restoration project for the Geary County Historical Society and over the past year work has been completed on interior plaster repairs and a new roof and gutters have been installed. The open house will be an opportunity for those interested in the history of the 115-year-old building or the restoration work to visit.
All are welcome and the event is free, though donations are welcome and will go toward the next stages in the restoration project.
