Caesar Martinez-Reyes, Junction City High School, Director of Orchestras, received a $600.00 donation to be shared among the Orchestra, Band and Vocal Music Departments at Junction City High School. This money will go towards supplies and needs to serve students at the high school who are enrolled in the Music Department.

Mr. Martinez told the Optimists that "enrollment has significantly increased in each of the areas of the Music Department and partnerships have been established with Junction City and Fort Riley Middle Schools to perform in combined concerts during the school year." He also stated that "there were 42 choir, 8 orchestra and 13 band students selected to participate at the Kansas Music Educators Association performances this year and more students are aspiring to be future music educators following high school and college graduation."

Some of the upcoming events during the second semester at the high school include a Band and Orchestra Concert on February 18; the musical presentation of "Fiddler on the Roof" March 11-13 and final concerts for the school year on May 5, 6, and 7. All performances are free except "Fiddler on the Roof".
