K-State Commencement ceremonies

MANHATTAN — Kansas State University will award more than 3,300 degrees and welcome students into its ranks of alumni at commencement ceremonies set for Saturday, May 9, at the Salina campus and Friday, May 15, and Saturday, May 16, at the Manhattan campus.

More details on the ceremonies — including parking, accommodations and a livestream of all ceremonies — are available on the K-State commencement website.

Approximately 2,260 bachelor's degrees, 600 master's degrees and 90 doctorates will be awarded this spring, and 170 students will be earning multiple degrees and majors. The graduates-to-be also include 540 students who are earning their degrees through a K-State Online program.

Saturday, May 9

Ceremonies kick off with K-State Salina's commencement at 10 a.m. on May 10 at the Tony's Pizza Events Center. Jim Remar, president and CEO of the Cosmosphere international science education center and space museum, is the speaker.

Friday, May 15

  1. Air Force ROTC Detachment 270 commissioning ceremony, 1 p.m., Forum Hall at the K-State Student Union. The guest speaker is retired Col. Gary Clark.
  2. Army ROTC Wildcat Battalion commissioning ceremony, 9 a.m., Forum Hall at the K-State Student Union. The commissioning officer and guest speaker is Kansas Army National Guard Col. Shea Weide, 35th ID Rear Command Post Chief of Staff.
  3. College of Architecture, Planning & Design, 10 a.m., Bramlage Coliseum. The speaker is Steven Upchurch, managing director of Gensler Dallas.
  4. Graduate School,1 p.m, Bramlage Coliseum. The speaker is Kansas Commissioner of Education Randy Watson. Diana Mendoza from the Kansas Board of Regents will represent the state's higher education authority at the ceremony.
  5. College of Veterinary Medicine, 3:30 p.m., Bramlage Coliseum. The speaker is Bo Brock from the Brock Veterinary Clinic. KBOR representative Diana Mendoza will be in attendance.

Saturday, May 16

  1. College of Arts and Sciences, 8:30 a.m., Bramlage Coliseum. Summer Lewis, consultant and cofounder of True Roots, is the speaker.
  2. College of Education, 11 a.m., Bramlage Coliseum. The speaker is Reginald Eggleston, superintendent of USD 475 Geary County Schools.
  3. College of Business Administration, 12:30 p.m., Bramlage Coliseum. Elizabeth Flentie-Snodgrass, senior managing director of the Principal Financial Network for Kansas and Missouri, is the speaker.
  4. College of Agriculture, 2:30 p.m., Bramlage Coliseum. The speaker is Jim Morgan, retired agricultural editor and owner of H&M Angus.
  5. College of Health and Human Sciences, 4:30 p.m., Bramlage Coliseum. Lakota Persing, bachelor's degree candidate in communication sciences and disorders, is the speaker.
  6. Carl R. Ice College of Engineering, 6:30 p.m., Bramlage Coliseum. The speaker is Kevin Needham, president of Kiewit Power Engineering and executive vice president of Kiewit Energy.
